Trauma Prayer
Jim has been involved as an ordained prayer minister in inner healing and deliverance for over 30 years, the last 17 of which have been fulltime. Consequently, the books he writes are primarily written for two kinds of folks; those struggling to recover from abuse, trauma, parental rejection, emotional and/or spiritual wounding, etc, or for those who are trying to help them.
He and his wife Pat initiated their journey into learning how to heal the broken following the realization that compassion is great, but it won’t carry you very far. They needed some tools, so they prayed this prayer, “Lord, if you’ll teach us how to heal broken hearts, we’ll give our lives to it.” Well, he was thinking that perhaps a three or four-day seminar would do the trick, but obviously, that proved to be profoundly naive. We had no idea of the investment, the price or the sacrifices that praying for people with increasingly complex problems would require. Isn’t it amazing how wonderful life is when you don’t know what you don’t know?
They’ve been at it now for over 30 years and in spite of how much they have learned and how much experience they have gained through ministering to a couple of thousand people, they find that they are still engaged in the learning process. This is because humans are amazingly complex entities, and the enemy of our souls is amazingly clever in the way he uses that complexity against us. Thankfully, we serve a God who is smarter, quicker and more resourceful than our enemy and is determined to make all things new. (Revelation 21:5)

Kristen Witt grew up in a faith-filled family who regularly served at church, where her passion for worship and ministry was ignited at a young age. However, like many, she faced challenges that led to unhealed wounds and identity issues as she grew. Despite having extensive Bible knowledge and being surrounded by a supportive Christian community, Kristen did not realize that the love of God was the true source of fulfillment that her soul craved, and she fell away from her faith at age 18.
During her young adult years, Kristen returned to the Lord and fully surrendered her life to Him. “I was miserable living life in my own strength,” she says. “The Holy Spirit called me out and showed me that I was living for myself and not actually depending on Him at all.” Kristen told God that if He would come through for her and prove who He said He was, she would surrender who she was and everything she had. Through surrender, the Holy Spirit began to do the restorative work in Kristen’s heart that allowed her to fall in love with Jesus all over again and root her identity in Him. Kristen’s transformative experience propelled her to dedicate her life to ministry and serve God’s people wholeheartedly.
As a singer/songwriter and recording artist, Kristen pours her heart into her music. She is deeply passionate about helping others form a healthy identity rooted in truth, through the power of God’s Word, to bring emotional freedom and spiritual maturity. She aims to inspire others on their own journeys of faith, helping them discover God’s profound love that can heal and transform.
Kristen earned her bachelor’s degree in Worship Ministry, with a minor in Theology, from Liberty University. She currently serves as a part-time Youth Ministry Associate at Connection Point Church in Raytown, Missouri, while fulfilling her calling as a full-time missionary and music minister at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City.
Kristen is honored to have the opportunity to speak into women’s lives and lead them in worship at this year’s Brokenly Beautiful conference, believing that God is a God of restoration and that each woman will encounter freedom, comfort, peace, and healing by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Though introduced to the Bible and Christianity from birth, somewhere in my early 20’s I wandered away from God for a few years. During this time I sought love and acceptance in all the wrong ways and made some terrible life choices. But God never gave up on me, watching over and protecting me every step of the way. The Lord called me back in 2015, right before a series of life altering tragedies and yet another poor decision. He knew I was going to need Him! It was then that I started learning about having a relationship with God as opposed to thou shall and thou shall not. As time went on, He called me to serve as worship leader and to lead the ladies group at my church, all the while working on healing me from the inside out. That was when He started whispering about how my experiences may serve to help others. I didn‘t necessarily resist, but I felt like it wasn’t time yet. Then late in 2023 He put this retreat on my heart. It took me a little bit of time to work through the self-doubt and other distractions the enemy tried to use to stop me, but I finally came into agreement with the Lord and went all in! So here we are, and I couldn’t be any more excited than I am right now to see how the Lord is going to move.
